Alex Schweikart's conditioning for climbing

13 August, 2012

DMM Climbing Team member, Alexandra Schweikart, is one of Germany's top female climbers with her hardest redpoint to date being F8b+. She trains hard and is as enthusiastic about mountain adventures as sport climbing at her local Frankenjura crags. For the past year she has been 'living the dream' or rather out of her van.

Each morning she has a regular exercise routine involving plenty of stretching, preferably in the first 20 minutes after waking up. She likes to call them 'Alexercises'. In the above clip, Alex shares why she believes this routine is important in helping her to keep climbing injuries at bay and avoid developing muscle imbalances. After all, being more flexible is only going to aid your overall climbing performance.
