Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Denver has a special significance this year for DMM, as the company launches plans for expansion into the North American market. These include a new U.S. office, new sales structure, and a focused product assortment to serve specialty outdoor retailers and climbing gyms.
Mark Busby, newly appointed VP of North American sales and marketing, will be over-seeing the expansion of DMM North America LLC. Previously, Mark was the climbing category manager for Scarpa North America, based in Boulder, Colorado, for three years.
DMM CEO Richard Rust, commented: “We have full confidence in Mark Busby as our new leader for the brand in North America, a market which offers a huge opportunity for us.”
He continued: “A big thank you to Steve and Lisa, owners of Excalibur Distribution, for introducing DMM to the U.S. market 26 years ago, and working so hard to establish our American story since then.” Excalibur will stop distribution of DMM at the end of 2019, but will continue representing their other brands.
Alongside details of this announcement DMM will be introducing new additions to its core range of hardware at the show. These include Halfnuts and the Shadow HMS carabiner.
Halfnuts use the same proven and versatile profile as Wallnuts but on a single wire and with a reduced width that gives improved stability in shallow placements. Being lightweight—38% lighter than the equivalent size Wallnut 1–7 set—they excel in situations where every gram counts and in pin scars in particular.
