The 24th OutDoor Friedrichshafen trade show takes place from June 18-21 and DMM will be there showcasing its latest products and developments.
Arguably, the biggest announcement (literally), is the addition of two large siblings to the Dragon Cam family, a size 7 and 8. For those difficult to protect wide cracks up to 195 mm (7.5 inches) look no further. Sharing the same standout features as its smaller brethren, the hot forged lobes and spindle block allow us to maximise the strength with a complex, yet lightweight design. Look out for the big Dragons in spring 2018.
The Ceros is DMM’s new directional belay carabiner that has evolved from the Rhino biner. It has the same horn feature and round top bar with a consistent circular cross-section for smooth rope handling, but a spring clip on the spine side of the biner to minimise the risk of cross-loading.
Designed to open downwards the clip will default to safe if it hasn’t been located correctly on the harness and can easily be operated one-handed. The Ceros will be available from Sept/Oct this year with a choice of screwgate, locksafe or kwiklock gates, as well as a captive bar option.
A refreshed and expanded clothing range will be available this October. For our range of T-shirts, we’re using Fairwear Foundation organic cotton tees manufactured using renewable energy.
We have three climbing inspired graphic T-shirts:
- Pass - there’s no place like home. A design inspired by the view of the Llanberis Pass and Snowdon from the outflow of Llyn Padarn.
- Torques - reflecting our passion for manufacturing high-quality hardware.
- Pickscape - the iconic outlines of DMM picks echoed as a mountain landscape.
And we’ve also updated our range of classic branded hoodies and T-shirts with some fresh colours and designs. Parents will be pleased to hear our highly sought after kid’s ‘Climb Now Homework Later’ T-shirts and hoodies return to the line-up.
For spring 2018 our range of climbing packs will see in-line refinements including new buckles, webbing and styling changes.
At DMM, we think there’s still a place for the special qualities of print, even in the digital age. So around this time for the last few years, we’ve produced a magazine with contributions from our community of DMM Climbers, alongside practical product information. This year’s 'zine has a fresh look to it and we’ve tried to include something of interest for everyone. The cover, shown below, features the new size 8 Dragon Cam helping Ben Smart tame the off-width, Fear of Infection
(E4 6a), in the Llanberis Pass.
If you think OutDoor has come around quickly this year; you’d be correct. The show has moved forward a month from its usual July slot. The DMM team looks forward to seeing everyone at Hall/Stand B2-202.
