New products at OutDoor Friedrichshafen 2013

10 July, 2013

The OutDoor Friedrichshafen trade show in Germany is a traditional calendar fixture that gives us the opportunity to introduce some of our new products.

For 2013/14, in the Thor, we've produced the world's first 11 kN gate-open rated wire-gate carabiner and it only weighs 36.4 grammes. Watch the short clip below to learn more about this truly versatile carabiner.

The Rhino is a specialised belay biner we've added to our range. The round bar makes it extremely smooth to use and the unique 'horn' feature makes it suitable for use with a variety of devices. It is available as a screwgate, quicklock or locksafe version. Have a look at the following clip to discover more.

At Stand 202 in Hall B2 we'll also be introducing the small but perfectly formed XSRE Carabiner. Rated at 4 kN it is an accessory biner and not intended as a climbing carabiner. Compact, oval shaped and colour coded this product is especially suited to the arborist market for rope hauling and with tool lanyards but its potential uses are only limited by your imagination. Use it to attach your nut key to your harness or set-up a hammock. You'll want to buy one first and think of a use later.

All the final tweeks have been made to our state of the art ice axe, the Switch, and it will be available in the autumn, completing the range of five snow and ice tools. Find out a great deal more about them, including some first-hand experience of using them from Nick Bullock and Rob Greenwood, in the accompanying clip.

The Alpha Light will be available from August and has all the weight advantages of the Phantom but with better handling and a bigger gate-opening.

In the soft goods department we've a new 11 mm rope, the Dynamo, ideally suited for use in outdoor centres and ropes courses, available in custom lengths of up to 500 metres. Our popular t-shirts and hoodies are back. Such has been the demand for them we're currently waiting for another batch of t-shirts to arrive in the warehouse. And in spring 2014 we'll have a range of climbing specific bags to accompany you on your multi-pitch adventures, bolt clipping days or simply to throw in the overhead locker on that get-away flight.
